about

This is one of those "true stories" about an old buddy who faked his death. That seems like a pretty hard things to do. He did a good job at it. Don't know how he got caught--go homesick I reckon. The lyrics tell the story very accurately. See you on the other side again, old buddy.

lyrics

DEAD MAN'S WALTZ

I was the best at cooking meth
That's why I had to fake my death
They found my note by the river
They thought I'd drown

That's when I changed my name
Montana's where I came
But nobody knew where I was from

Lost my friends, lost my life
Lost my drugs, lost my mind
Dead Man's Waltz
What I made ain't worth the cost

Called my Momma on the phone
It's been six years since I was home
It was good that she hoped I was alive

But I'd been cooking food all day
With my new wife and family
When they showed up to take me away

Lost my friends, lost my life
Lost my drugs, lost my mind
Dead Man's Waltz
What I made ain't worth the cost

I was the best at cooking meth
That's why I had to fake my death
They found my note by the river
They thought I'd drown
